the Williams’ Italian honeymoon

When you’re floating on that 'just married' high, the last thing you want is to be hit by a selfiestick. You need to be in a world built for two. This desire was at the heart of Emma and Logan Williams’ vision for their honeymoon, and why they reached out to Access Italy for support. What follows is Emma's journal from their viaggio d'amore...

From Pinterest to Passaporto
Emma and Logan arrived with a Pinterest board full of ideas but no clear path to make them real. The Access Italy team shaped those ideas into a honeymoon that felt effortless, personal, and entirely their own.
Let's read their story

FROM PINTEREST

TO PASSAPORTO

Feb 3 - Request phase

Planning a honeymoon while organizing a wedding felt impossible. I had a Pinterest board full of stunning Italian villas and sunset aperitivos, but no idea how to make it happen. Within a few days, the Access Italy team sent us an itinerary that felt like they'd read our minds.

isabella'S THOUGHTS
Emma and Logan were dreamers, which I loved. They were also worried about over-planning their honeymoon. They wanted structure but spontaneity, so I created a loose itinerary which balanced landmark moments with afternoons free for wandering.

Among the vines!

We started in Umbria, where our driver navigated the winding Montefalco roads like a maestro.
The Access Italy team had chosen an indipendent boutique hotel tucked among the vineyards, the kind of place you only find through local knowledge. Inside, a handwritten note waited for us, along with a bottle of Sagrantino and fresh tozzetti. That evening we sat on the terrace as the sun turned everything peach and gold.
Logan kept saying, "Is this real?" I didn’t have an answer. I could only smile.

"The right hotel rarely appears in a search.
In Montefalco, the team chose a small vineyard property they knew well.
Quiet, personal, exactly right for the first nights of a honeymoon.
Sometimes the difference is simply knowing where to look."

The truffle hunter

Next morning, we met Andrea and his dog Romolo in the Umbrian hills. Andrea’s family has hunted truffles for four generations and yet he still treats every find like treasure. Romolo dug up a tartufo nero the size of my fist. Andrea just grinned and said: “For your dinner.” Later, a chef came to our villa and taught us to make tagliolini al tartufo. We ate on the terrace under the stars. Logan said it was better than our wedding meal and I gave a quiet nod of agreement.

"The real luxury wasn’t finding the truffles, but giving them a morning that perfumed of earth, quiet, and home."

WHEN PLANS

CHANGE

May 16

We arrived in Tuscany the evening before. By morning, heavy, relentless rain had settled over the hills. Our hot air balloon ride was canceled and I had a momentary 'oh no' moment, wondering if our streak of perfection had finally hit a snag. Access Italy team texted us, she already knew about the weather. By the time we spoke, she had two alternative experiences lined up for us.
We simply chose the one we knew we’d remember forever.

"Seamless viaggi rarely happens by chance.
That night the rain started in Tuscany.
By sunrise, the Access Italy operations team had already reshaped the day.
A cancelled balloon ride quietly became a memory no one expected."
We were taken to see Francesca - a local ceramicist who had opened her studio just for us. We spent three hours learning majolica painting while the rain drummed on the roof. We made two bowls, terribly uneven but forever ours. “You'll use these for breakfast when you're old”, said the artist.
I teared up a little.
isabella's thoughts
Mother Nature doesn’t always check the itinerary, and when it’s your honeymoon, even a little rain can feel like a big cloud over your heart.
I know Francesca personally and called in a favor. When Emma texted me photos of their wonky bowls, I knew we had turned a potential disappointment into a core memory.

FOR NOW

The Honeymoon lives on

Logan and I were quiet on the drive to Milan airport. We weren't ready to leave! Italy felt like a secret we got to keep for 10 days. A few weeks later, our ceramic bowls arrived.
Now every morning, as I pour my cappuccino, I’m back in that Tuscan studio — listening to the rain, holding Logan’s hand. We found ourselves talking about coming back one day. Next time, there may be three of us.

The best compliment is when guests return home already talking about their next viaggio. With every detail handled on the ground, Emma and Logan were free to do the only thing that mattered: enjoy being newly married.
